Theme Exhibition: Designers as Players

An ecosystem of active players who build and expand new worlds has emerged. Those who explore the world with new perceptions constantly move, connect, interact, and attempt to explore new worlds with boundless imagination. The environment of creation, conflict, convergence and collaboration provided by artificial intelligence allows designers to try to rebuild relations constantly between humans, and humans, humans and the world, and the world and world through questioning existing notions and orders. In this ecosystem where anonymity prevailed, designers as active players try to set and remove their identity rather than settling for a steadfast identity.

This special exhibition highlights innovators and pioneers–from individuals to groups and companies–who are charting new territories in this new digital landscape. We call them active players: forward-thinkers who challenge conventional wisdom and reshape the connections between people, their environment, and different spheres of life through meaningful engagement. Design Korea 2024 is a celebration of those pioneers and the futures they envision. While AI may be today’s buzzword, its true impact and potential remain open to interpretation. Design Korea 2024 brings to focus from the unique perspective of these active players who approach artificial intelligence with enthusiasm, healthy caution, and strategic thinking, offering fresh insights into emerging ecosystems and future possibilities on the intersection of design and artificial intelligence.
